Mr. Kerry, The Swift Boat Vets are well within their rights!

I have to ask this question, if you had an opponent tell lies about you, if you were running for office and the greatest qualification you had to run on and central theme of your campaign was being distorted, what would be your approach?
Most likely you would come forward and refute any and all claims. I know I'd be sure that every point made by my opponent was trumped by the truth.
That is not what happened when John Kerry had John O'neil and the "Swift boat veterans for truth" come forward and tell America that Kerry's version of events in Vietnam were false. Kerry ran crying to the press and demanded that Bush denounce the Ads. So Bush said that he did not think the 527 ads from both sides should exist. That wasn't enough for Kerry, then he wanted the President to tell them to stop.
Kerry knows that due to (in my estimation, the worst thing to hit politics in decades) the McCain Feingold bill, Bush can't have any dealings with independent "527" groups, besides, they already said that even if Bush told them to stop, they wouldn't, this is their fight against Kerry, Bush has nothing to do with it.

Kerry has still yet to refute these claims. He has sent others out to beg and demand that Bush stop these Ads. Well Kerry, the Ads are protected by the constitution of the United States of America, you know the country you have done your best to slander and defame in the face of those enemy countries. These same countries you run to and cry about the mean ol' Americans do not give a hoot about you! They have all said that even if you become President they will not go in to Iraq nor will they aide America in the War on Terror!
If Kerry is telling the truth, let him come forward with his rebuttal. I don't think he will. He has chosen the underhanded tactics of defamation and accusation. He wants Bush to get involved with these guys so he can use that association to discredit both the Vets and Bush. How slimy. Wednesday Kerry had Rasmussen and Max Cleland go uninvited to the Bush Ranch in Texas and act as if the refusal to see them was an indication that Bush was afraid of them, and that he was refusing to " call off his attack dogs". I have said for months now that I'd love for Bush to come out and blast these fools and use their own sneaky twisted logic against them.
I now know that how Bush is handling this is the right way. He is above all this petty stuff. He is ignoring them and not lending any credence to their childish behavior.
Bush and I differ in opinion when it comes to these ads though. He signed the campaign finance reform bill, he believes(like the Democrats) that there was too much soft (independent/unregulated) money in politics. When they wrote this backwards thinking bill, they left loopholes (the IRS allowed them and amended the bill to suit). These loopholes were termed 527s, referring to the section in which it is referred to in the CFR Bill.
I agree that after all the crazy ads lately, the 527s have gotten out of hand. The Democrats have had 85% of money spent on these kinds of ads. Ads that on occasion have called Bush a liar and compared him to Hitler, attacks that Bush did not even respond to, unlike his opponent who stomped his feet and cried like a baby " Stop these ads they are unfair".
I say that they messed up when they over regulated campaign finance. They should have left it alone, they should have never went contrary to the constitution and tried to deny Americans their 1st amendment rights.
