'Osama'

Even though we have all come to understand the ways and lifestyles of Afghan people more since the events of 911, a lot of us fail to understand the fact that the face of Bin ladden is not the face of all Muslims, nor is it even the face of many in the society of Afghanistan.
The Taliban is an evil entity, one that causes pain and death in every aspect of global society. The people who used the lives of innocence to rise to power; started at home with their own countrymen. They are to blame, not the citizens.

The world of the common Afghani in recent history has been one of pain, fear, oppression, starvation and heartache. We tasted some pain in our own world on 911, not in quite as deleterious a manor but certainly by the same evil men. Bin Ladden was a feared and hated name of the Afghan woman and child, long before his name crossed the lips of 99% of the western civilization. Afghan people are happy to be free, they are having hard times right now, but the hard times are nothing in comparison to what they have lived with for decades. They need a strong leader to keep them from the dangers of evil despotic regimes such as the Taliban. They WILL get such a leader later this year, all thanks to America. Freedom is not a luxury it is a necessity! Freedom provides ability and hope, both of which these fine people have not known.

What we have done in Afghanistan and in Iraq is not only the right thing, but in the eyes of little girls in Afganistan , we are saviors. What we did is lay down a path to a life they could only comprehend in the realm of fairy tales and dreams. We have watched the US and it's allies come forth and assume the physicality of the hand of the almighty God. He is manifested to them through us.
I know my regular readers, and I am not addressing you, but once in a while I hear the ignorant opinion of well meaning Christians and others in our country espouse hatred for the entire race. They do believe spiritually differently than we do, and in our confidence in Christ, we sometimes shun those who haven't come to understand and know him.

The radical's interpretation of the Koran is evil, it has been pressed into the minds of these innocents since the beginning with Ishmael.

It is now that we should embrace them. You see the Koran, to free Muslims, is as the outer shell to the fresh new body of the molted Cicada. When they come to feel the lasting effects of freedom, a religion for the oppressed will be discarded and a chance for a new beginning is on the horizon. It won't be long, but we mustn't as a nation, relinquish Afganistan back to the war lords. We need to stay the course and see to it that these new elections are supported.

The movie I have written to tell you of is one of insight. It is sad, it is moving, but most of all it is educational material that every (post 911) human should see.

It is the first movie to be made since the fall of the Taliban at the hands of democracy and freedom.

A frightened little 12 yr old Afghan girl and her family struggle after the Taliban wars took her father and brother. When the Taliban closes the hospital where they worked, they find themselves facing starvation. Three women alone can not survive in a world where women are not allowed in public without a male escort. So the grandmother decides to disguise her granddaughter as a boy so she can work for food. When you see this movie you realize the utter despair of these people.

While America experienced the '70s disco and free love, while we lamented over affirmative action and gay rights in the '80s and nineties, these women struggled to live. At times their most prized possessions were blankets to keep warm at night.

By day they were forced to sneak through the streets cloaked in a disguise, to appear ashamed of their gender. They were considered to be whores if even their feet were visible. This movie helps us put into perspective the trivial problems in our lives. I have found that after seeing this movie, my worries seem so silly and miniscule. I now worry less about my ability to overcome them.

If you see only one more movie this year, you must make it 'Osama'. <<

It is a dark film and it's a heart string puller, but when you finish the film, your first thought will likely be as was mine," THIS is what we saved these beautiful souls from enduring for centuries to come!" and "GOD BLESS THE USA!!! "
