Dubai deal puts America at risk

Two weeks later and it's still a bad idea !

Reports on this subject began in a Wall Street Journal piece October of last year. As of this past Friday, I have known about and contemplated the port deal between Dubai Ports World and the UK Company P&O for two weeks. During the first week I watched in bewilderment as the Democrats and Republicans were caught up in the story of how the White House Press Corps learned that there is no 28th Amendment to the Constitution that mandates the Vice President to report to them first, and how Democrats tried to capitalize on the non-story by claiming it as confirmation of the administration's propensity for, 'Shhh....Secrecy". While the media was wholly dedicated to "CheneyGate" they ignored the comments from Al Gore, the former VP, denigrating America on foreign soil, while simultaneously ignoring the story about the UK / Dubai port deal. Week two finds everyone focused like a laser beam and busy expressing their expert opinion. So I too would like to elaborate on why I will never be for this deal.

All you need to do is read the 911 Commission's Report documenting the UAE's ties to Osama Bin Laden and their recognition of the Taliaban as a legitimate government and their long standing policy to not recognize Israel as a legitimate government. Their dealings with and support of AlQaieda and frankly their ability to deal with America and donate large sums to Katrina victims, denounce terror and still, not a single suicide bomber has murdered a large gathering of people in the UAE. That's just too suspicious to me. I'll bet the people of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq are suspicious too.

There are just too many reasons not to do this and only one reason to do it... ' to not be a bigot and enrage an otherwise friendly nation'. Maybe it's just me but I thought friends were the ones you don't have to worry about getting offended and attacking you. I guess I am just too ignorant to understand.

"People don't need to worry about security, we wouldn't go forward if we were concerned about the security of the United States of America." Said Bush.

That's the problem Mr. President. You said it correctly, and I agree, If you were concerned about the security of the US you would not go forward with this deal!
How can you make this statement. The risk is obvious and the danger is real!

You and I are ignorant racists !!!

People (mostly on the right) who support this deal, will try to end debate by claiming that to be against it you have to be ignorant and/or racist. It's an old tactic used by the left. Yet with this subject you shouldn't be surprised if you hear someone you often agree with claim you are somehow either under informed or ignorant. Then they like to throw in the xenophobia claim to get you believing you are so afraid of Islam that you have morphed into a bigoted hatemonger who's bent on American isolationism. That's cute, but don't let it dissuade you from trusting your common sense. This is a bad deal and no good relations bid can make it less volatile.

You and I are not racists because we question the selling of port operation rights to a country that supported the very terror networks that hit us on 911 and even today buys into the anti Semitic Islamo-fascist doctrine that refuses to acknowledge Israel as a state. All the while, their neighbor to the northeast, Iran, is growing toward nuclear proliferation. Iranian
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent remarks, "As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map," referring to Iran's former leader Ayat Allah Khomeini, are ominous and demand attention. We should not and we must not tie our hands when we are on the verge of the apocalyptic war between Islam and Christianity. China and Russia are secretly helping Islamic radicals by arming our enemy at every turn. Just as terrifying, our best friends, the UK, didn't think the sale of 21 of our ports to the United Arab Emirates, while we are at war with groups they support, warrants giving the President a call. "He became aware of it over the last several days," McClellan said. When he was asked if Bush knew about this before it was a done deal, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said, "That's correct."

If this appeasement, profit first mentality is the path Bush intends to take us down, we are in big trouble.... the world is in big trouble.

Now with that said, don't take this as my official disassociation with the current administration. They have a strategy, and this fits into their modi operandi. I am not questioning their integrity or intentions. I am, however, beginning to question their direction.
To me, the single scariest topic discussed lately is that not only do we not have an American company to manage our ports but we only inspect 5% of the crates received. That makes you stop and scratch your head doesn't it? This approach to our national security is reprehensible and woefully inept. We are not acting like we are at war, and that's just how they want us to act!I am sick of hearing the Democrats' whining and I am doubly sick of seeing spineless Republican weasels being propped up by their wallets. If they do not run someone in '08 that plans to win this war and protect this country, we will end up stuck in the socialist hell Hillary has planned for us. I usually try to be optimistic about our direction and our future.Recent events, however, stifle my optimism.

I confirmed yesterday that this deal does involve 21 and not six major American ports. Now we know that even Corpus Christi, here in Texas, is subject to the deal. I hope you are as concerned about this as I am. If you are, please write to your Congressman. Believe me, they are listening. Many of them are up for re-election this year. Flooding their email boxes does make a difference.
