I am a firm opponent of both the death penalty and torture, and it's because of cases like these that further my beliefs. Let me tell you why -
You might say
"oh, Dave, you silly liberal, why would you want to protect a monster like this?"
Fact is - I DON'T.
The reasons being,...well... let me tell you this - if someone were to harm my friends or family in any way shape or form (obviously for arguments sake it would have to be extreme or a felonious attack in some way, which I don't want to imagine) you better believe that I wouldn't want anyone to come near hurting or killing that person. First of all - death is too easy a punishment.
I truly believe that "punishing" killers by death is FAR to leniant, not to mention hypocritical. Why would I want some animal that did harm to my loved ones to die peacefully with no pain at all by lethal injection? I don't think the electric chair would make me feel any better about it either.
I wouldn't want that piece of excrement to have that easy and lathargic of a consequence, and I think any sane person can understand where I'm coming from.
I would want that animal to rot in it's own insanity and stench, in a 4x8 cell for the rest of it's life and, I might add, at a far lower cost on my tax dollars to me and my community than executing them.
As for torture - it says somewhere in our Constitution or Bill of Rights that cruel or unusual punishment is against the law.
So torture's out.
Unless I get to the creep before the law does.

I don't care how much it costs justice needs to be served.
I am not a hate filled person who wants to see her suffer or be tortured. I simply think that since this and other demons walking the Earth took an innocent life or lives, they should not be afforded the ability to continue to enjoy the life experience any longer. Those babies did not get to experience further life and neither should she.
Even an uncomfortable life is at the very least....life. By the way, I expect that we agree that the soft treatment at the Vernon day spa she was sent to is an inappropriate punishment. Am I right?; 7/27/2006
Anonymous said...: I think we're looking at the situation with the same pain and anguish for the human race. Wether we want to except it or not, she is still, unfortunately still a human being...a very abominous human, and probably a screw up or a reject in God's eyes...
But wait a minute...that would mean that God makes mistakes.
I don't know if that's true or not, all I know is that recipricating death with death has never been proven to prevent more death.
But, hey, if you want her to die you should start a community outreach to make sure she gets the proper punishment that you feel she deserves.
There are lots of evil people and things that happen in the world, and this vicious attack you've undertaken to blame liberals for protecting bad people is greatly unfounded.
And if you know of any liberal who wants this person to go to a day spa for the atrocities that she's commited, punch 'em in the teeth and tell em dave told them to wise the hell up, and fast.

It is a place where she will get regular attention to her dietary needs, she will have cable TV and exercise time in a gym with a trainer. Massage therapy is also available. She will have all the quiet reflection time she could ever want. They will help her accept and learn to live with the guilt and she will be preened and coddled by self righteous liberals who, when she is deemed 'healed', will set her free. Not on the streets, but in a halfway house. From this house she will get a job and establish herself back into the community.
People on the right and the left say she has no hope of getting out and they are greatly mistaken. If she were still serving her previous term she would likely never seen the outside world again. Yet now, she will be built up and set free.
I know because I have an Aunt, by marriage, who long after her divorce from my uncle, caught her then husband and friend in bed together in a motel. She murdered the woman while she slept beside her husband. After they picked the woman's pockets, the husband helped her load the body into the trunk of their car. Before they left the parking lot they were caught and arrested. She pled insanity and was found 'NGBRI' and sentenced to life in the State Hospital in Vernon, Tx. The Husband was convicted and is currently serving a life sentence. She spent her time in a place she loved so much, she cried when they released her three years later. So I know what this woman is in for.

Was justice served in either case? I don't think so.

When you talk about the Liberal community not protecting bad people, you are speaking with blinders on. The left comes to the aide of Castro, Chavez, Terrorists, pedophiles, drug addicts, liars, and all who practice a lasciviousness and every form of anti-Christian and anti-Jewish hate. The left doesn't protect bad people???? The examples are as numerous as the drops of water on Earth. The left derides Bush for the good he does for our economy and for the extermination of terrorist around the Globe, They bash Israel for protecting herself against hate filled fanatic genocidal maniacs. They use propaganda to persuade and garner sympathy for every non combatant (innocent is a stretch) that is killed in Iraq and Lebanon in the name of security and freedom. Yet ignore the radical murder, in the name of hate for the sake of hate, of a woman in Seattle. Ask a Liberal who is to blame for the war on terror and they will tell you America and her allies (such as Israel) are to blame. We did not please them by dying and surrendering land so we are responsible. Israel cannot remedy the situation, in a Liberal's mind, because by simply being a home to Jews they incite violence. the only way Israel can redeem themselves in the eyes of Radical Muslims and Liberals is to walk voluntarily into the Mediterranean Sea and drown.
I have no interest in pointing out example after example. If you think it is conservative rational that the Texas jury used to find this woman 'NGBRI' and not liberal quasi compassion you are not being intellectually honest. name a single instance where a conservative, displaying conservative values, supported or defended a murderer, Child Molester, Stalinist, Communist or Marxist dictator. True Conservatism does not coddle evil doers, yet history, even recent history, illustrates how true Liberalism has been on the side of appeasement in the face of threats on American or Israeli interests while supporting those who threaten or attack us. You, being a true Christian, should be able to discern these truths on your own. If you truly cannot see things for how they really are, I fear for you.
You have recently said, in email correspondence, that you feel less and less like a Liberal and more like a centrist or moderate. I am impressed. I knew you had it in you. I have a challenge for you Dave. Every time you read or hear a piece of leftist network propaganda, temper or try it against true Conservative (not Republican) viewpoints. If you have trouble knowing exactly 'What the 'True' Conservative viewpoint is, run it by me, none are more rooted in true Conservative values than I am.
I predict that if you reserve your reaction and draw your conclusion only after weighing both sides, you will find yourself standing further and further to the right. ש.ל.ם; 8/02/2006
