ST. PETERSBURG, FL (AP) --
An 8-year-old girl was raped on the side of a residential street in full daylight less than half a block from her apartment, police said.Police are now questioning a man that lives on 15th Avenue North about this incident. He's Henry Segaroun, 19, and has some prior incidents for trespassing. Someone who witnessed the crime Wednesday afternoon chased away the perpetrator, who remained on the loose Thursday, police spokesman Bill Proffit said. The girl was treated at a hospital and released.The girl was leaving a park at about 12:55 p.m. with her 7-year-old brother when a man grabbed her from behind, pulled her to the ground and raped her, police said. Their mother had left them alone for a few minutes to return home and turn off the kitchen stove.A man playing basketball nearby said he heard the screams and ran to the scene. A motorist who witnessed it began honking her horn and dialed 911. The perpetrator got up and ran away.Proffitt said police believe they recovered the man's shirt, which he apparently stripped off as he ran away, but they don't know his identity. People in the middle-class neighborhood say hemay be a transient.

Suspect in custody for daylight assault of 8-year-old girl

. Petersburg, Florida –
Police are now questioning a man that lives on 15th Avenue North about this incident. He's Henry Segaroun,18, and has some prior incidents for trespassing. This after they spent Thursday afternoon, handing out about 300 fliers to residents living around Central Oak Park. The fliers include the sketch of a man suspected of attacking an 8-year-old girl at the Park earlier in the week.
After hearing about the attack, Alana Brown doubted she would ever take her kids to the park to play again.
Alana Brown, St. Petersburg Mom:“I'm horrified because it happened in the middle of the day, in this neighborhood that we've been coming to. I have 3 children and my daughter is the same age as that girl. So it makes me very nervous. I don't think I'll be coming back.”Officials say the girl had been left at the park with her 7-year-old brother when the girl's mom left the park to check on something back home.
As the girl and her brother tried to leave the park, the suspect then attacked, grabbing the girl from behind and sexually assaulting her.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect, who is described as 17 to 21 years old, about 5-foot 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 125 pounds.
Officials have also recovered a t-shirt they believe the attacker was wearing at the time of the assault. On Thursday, police also used bloodhounds to try and track the attacker.
