A Century of Lies

Why low gas prices might be a 'BAD' thing!

Have you been to the gas pump lately? In case you haven't noticed, the prices are down sharply. Experts say the necessary commodity will continue it's downward spiral throughout the month of October, falling to a national average of $2.00 or less. Good news right? Well, if you tend to look at things from a short term perspective, you are likely to say, " Yeah, Cheaper gas!!! " But if you are like me, and unfortunately few are, you look at it from a long term perspective you will say, " Wait a minute, this is not good for national security !"

I know you are wondering, what am I smoking, right? Please allow me to explain. In the 1970s fuel prices hit an all time high. By 1974 the OPEC oil embargo caused prices to more than quadruple the going rate. Although prices soon slid back down slightly, Americans had, "Had enough !" So in 1979 Congress was forced to act. They approved the creation of a program called the
'Synthetic Fuels Corp' or 'SFC'. They used tax dollars to the tune of almost 88 Billion to bolster the program. The objective of the SFC was to speed up, exponentially, the research and production of alternative fuels. It was estimated that the SFC would produce two million barrels of alternative fuel per day within seven years.

In 1986, the company closed up shop, costing the nation more than a quarter of a trillion dollars! Why? Well, OPEC saw that we were finally sick of the strangle hold they had over us and were serious about becoming energy independent. So they dropped the bottom out of oil prices. Gasoline was suddenly so cheap, no one was interested in what SFC was doing. Why continue to spend money and time producing an alternative fuel that was, at the time, more expensive to the consumer than oil? OPEC effectively killed the alternative fuel bid. Once again, America was safe inside the pockets of nations who sought to destroy us. Throughout the next twenty years they have steadily raised the prices back up to a point that we are now, once again screaming at our government, " Do something about our oil dependency!" We realize that OPEC is dragging us along, just to keep us dependant on them.

So environmentalists are getting behind a single alternative fuel that is suppose to be the savior of our national security, our environment, and our pocket books. That miracle fuel.... Corn Ethanol!
However, experts without a poisonous Liberal agenda have dispelled the myth of Corn Ethanol for good. Despite the recent opening of America's first ethanol gas station, those truly concerned about the environment, economy and our national security have pointed out that Corn ethanol is 'NOT' environmentally safe. Many manufacturing plants will be required to mass produce the alternative fuel. These plants will require as much as 1 & 1/4 gallons of petroleum based oil to make one gallon of Corn Ethanol. So much for our Mideast oil independence. Also, the plants and the cars that use the fuel they produce, will release almost twice as much toxins into the air as standard oil plants do. so much for the environmental angle. what's more, leading economy experts warn that Corn based ethanol will cost as much as petroleum does today within 8 years. So much for the economy.

Oddly enough, our government is offering massive subsidies, as much as .50¢ per gallon, to oil companies to produce Corn ethanol! Yet, oil from sugar cane ethanol, from Brazil, requires no oil to produce and would actually help support American allies not enemies. So what has the US government done about that? Yep, they are taxing them .50¢ per gallon. Amazing! Simply amazing.

So if our big brother won't allow sugarcane ethanol, and corn based oil is not the answer, what is?

Well, BMW and Honda are stepping up to the plate and offering the solution.

Honda's new Hydrogen car is set to be released in a couple years, BMW's Hydro car is even closer to release. The hydro car will require minimal if not zero changes to our highway infrastructure. What's more, the car from Honda comes with an already available 'Home Energy Station' that is about the size of an air-conditioner. you can own it, fuel up at home, and it can power as many as five cars. even more amazing, the energy station can fuel, in addition to your five cars........... your entire home !
It is now available from Honda's subsidiary called,
'Plug Power'.

Don't believe the lies that are being told about this car. It is powerful enough to travel at current speed limits, and will not only cost little to fuel, but if you take into consideration the advantage of powering your home with it, you will essentially make money using it. There is not a short supply of hydrogen either. There is, according to experts, enough hydrogen flowing through our country right now, in trucks and pipelines, to fuel one million hydrogen cars. America could be fully converted to hydrogen within two years.

Sounds great doesn't it? So why am I afraid that it will never come to pass? Because just like in 1979, OPEC realizes we mean business. They see that BMW and HONDA recognize the threat of being dependant on nations that want to kill us. So, they are once again trying to murder the alternative fuel industry. Why would you buy a 'Plug Power' system and Hydro car for thousands of dollars, if you can just keep your old combustible engine car and pay considerably less than you are use to paying for gas? OPEC is betting you and I won't. I am not sure they are wrong. That is the scary part. We may be doomed to remain dependant on oil from Eastern nations, who use oil profits from our addiction to fuel their attacks on us and our allies. When we continue to buy from them, we are funding the next holocaust. We are buying missiles and bombs for Iran and Syria to use on western nations.

So while cheaper gas prices are putting smiles on the faces of many Americans today, they are putting us at greater risk tomorrow.
I would say, "Please wake up America, and think long term", but I am sure it will take a massive multi faceted attack from radical nations to do so. Sadly 911 was not enough to be our turning point, it was not enough to be compared to Pearl Harbor and rattle us to consciousness. Which only means, the next attack may have to be so large, it might cost us our very existence.

Interesting post Ken.
I do very little driving, being a natural 'stay-at-home' who abhors shopping, but I do feel for all those who must drive for work, etc.
It's too bad we can't go back to the days when we depended upon horses for travel. The fuel is cheap and recycable. And the bonus is NO POLUTION!
We know that isn't going to happen. We have outgrown the simpler things and on we march into what they call "progress."
